The masthead of this magazine is very bold and immedietely stands out to the audience due to the fact that the font is eye-catching and much larger and different to the rest of the text on the page. The magazines title 'shine' also compliments the masthead design as the word 'shine' is very brief and easily sticks in your head, it is also very cheery and bright and creates a positive and motivated vibe, attracting you to the magazine, persuading you to take a look inside.
The strapline of the magazine is positioned very centrally, directly under the right hand side of the masthead, which makes it very clear and easy to recognise and see. The strapline 'shine like a star' corresponds brilliantly with the magazines title 'shine' and also boasts a positive vibe attracting readers to the magazine. The strapline is also very intregueing and persuasive, which is particularly useful to students who would most probably like' to shine like a star'. The colour scheme of the strapline matches the rest of the magazines colour scheme which is red- this is a feature commonly used in industry.
The colour scheme of the magazine is consistent right the way through from the front page to the contents page. This is a feature very commonly used in industry. The red stripe with the black border and the black text runs throughout the magazine, I chose to pick black text against a red background because it makes it very clear to read also it appeals to all ages and genders as it isnt specifically tailored to suit a certain demographic.
I think that the front page of my school magazine will appeal to the intended audience of students at Acland Burghley School because it is very universal which means that it isnt specifically tailored for one type of student but will suit all. The photograph that is placed centrally on the front page also sets the scene of what the magazine is about- arts. Finally the fact that students are featured on the front page in the photograph gives students the impression and reassures them that this magazine is all about them, designed by them, made for them which will make it seem more personal, allowing them to feel more involved in the publication.
